Introduction Successful companies will need to depend more and more upon the ability of their junior and middle managers to maximise the potential offered by their greatest resource - their staff. Organisational Changes, Flatter Management Structures & Changing Attitudes have necessitated a move away from the more traditional/hierarchical role of management towards one that is based more on developing and empowering all members of staff.
Target Group Junior and Middle Managers
Objectives
  • Identified their own management and leadership styles and their ability to match their style to team performance
  • Explored how to establish and maintain performance expectations – even when the manager is not present
  • Identified when and how to develop job skills including training Needs Analysis
  • Examined the techniques used when Taking Corrective Action including providing both negative and positive feedback on performance
  • Understood the concepts relating to coaching for optimal performance including motivation, delegation, conflict resolution and team dynamics
  • Practiced techniques of Joint problem solving, team briefing and inter-personal communication
Time Scale 2 day workshop
Methodology The programme addresses, in a highly participative and pragmatic way, the theory and the practices surrounding the Manager as a Coach. Delegates will be involved in syndicates, workshops, discussion groups and personal evaluation audits
